Endorsements

Here are some unsolicited endorsements from owners of Chelsvig guitars, most of which were posted on the RMMGA newsgroup.

I can best describe my Cheslvig's tone as richly thunderous with a kick-ass bottom end. And I can also tell that the best is yet to come: I plan to play this guitar for many, many years ... In terms of aesthetics, the guitar is simply beautiful. I am extremely pleased with the general appearance, the wood, body shape, purfling, rosette, and especially the inlay work. The headstock inlay is as good as anything I've ever seen...

The sound is incredible. It's much, much, much louder than the Goodalls, Collings, Langejans, Thompson, and Larrivees that I have access to, and the sound isn't just loud; it's really, really rich. Thunderous bass notes, but a real shimmery high end also. I'm not sure how to explain what I'm hearing, but it doesn't sound like any other guitar I've ever played ... Monstrous. Beautiful tone.
-- Jeff Liaw

Really, really good sound, clear, precise, great overtones ... Structurally, like Podunavac's guitars, VERY solid, so much so, that the tone and responsiveness of these guitars is just a bit of a surprise ... If tone is *the* issue, well Mr. Chelsvig's instruments pass with flying colors.

I 've seen and played almost every guitar that Jim has made so far and there isn't one in the group I wouldn't buy myself. He's got something special happening with his design and the way he builds them...Another thing - Jim is as honest and forthright as the day is long. The way he does business takes all the risk out of buying one of his guitars...I've said it before here, but I truly believe a Chelsvig Guitar has to be the best guitar value in America right now.

The damn thing sounds f***ing great!!! ... absolutely great. Amazing!! ... it makes for a "killer" slide guitar ... I will play it often ... for sure ... If my house catches on fire....[my Chelsvig] will be out the door before either of my [Leo Kottke Signature Models]. They can be replaced ... [my Chelsvig] can't.
-- Jim Jarrell

I gotta admit it. I stayed up late last night playing the guitar, and got up early and played another hour before work. I hate to gush, but damn I like this guitar! My wife has been subjected to this stuff for 27 years, and she told me to order a 12-string after only listening for about 15 minutes ... Remember me when you're famous!
